Dr. Othmane Benafan, originally from Tangier, Morocco, holds a doctoral degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Central Florida. Since 2011, he has been a pivotal figure at the NASA Glenn Research Center, serving as a senior materials research engineer. His work focuses on pushing the boundaries of aerospace technologies through a blend of theoretical and experimental research. Dr. Benafan is also deeply engaged in the scientific community, assuming leadership positions in industry and academia by serving in graduate faculty committees, editorial boards, and leading national and international technical societies. Dr. Benafan is profoundly committed to fostering unity and promoting growth within the Moroccan American community. He actively works to create opportunities for progress to strengthen bonds within the community and ultimately contribute to a more vibrant and prosperous UMAACO future. Beyond his community service, Dr. Benafan enjoys fishing, playing soccer, and spending quality time with his family.
