Mission: Morocco Earthquake Relief Effort 2023
Mission Goal: Community School, Teachers’ Housing, Bathrooms
Location: Assif zegzaoun Village, Al Haouz Province, Marrakesh-Safi region, Morocco
School Construction: Kg-6th grade
Students Supported: 52
In collaboration with a local non-profit, UMAACO has successfully established a fully equipped community school for students from kindergarten through 6th grade, following the complete destruction of the previous school due to the earthquake. The new facility includes four classrooms, housing for two teachers, and essential bathroom facilities.
In addition to the school's infrastructure, UMAACO provided students with winter clothing, including boots, gloves, and hats, as well as fully stocked backpacks containing notebooks, pencils, erasers, rulers, and storybooks. Classroom resources such as posters and heaters were also supplied to enhance the learning environment.
This initiative has significantly benefited the village’s children, with 52 students now having access to a safe and supportive educational setting. UMAACO board members, together with other community members, traveled to the site to oversee the project, meet with village elders, and personally greet the students.
